Had a good meeting with the Penguin rep and his sales director today, they are keen to provide a varied promotion for indies. Its difficult to come up with a promotion which does not use price as a hook. Price always has a double edge ,maybe good for our customer but most probably bad for the profit and reinforces the perception that books are exspensive. General books are very good value and have not risen in price for a number of years . Best subscribed book Anthony Beevor D-Day, out in May. Lots of returns being done today and they are still digging the street up outside, we have had a new gas main being put into the road, they started in November and will finish the day before good friday. So thats been great ! Have a good book launch on thursday 26th March with Emily Barr at 6.30 wine and friends. Ron

I dont feel that the ebook will replace the book. Books require no elecvtrictity ad are relitivly hardy, tactile and inexpensive. As financial empires colapse and the oil slowly runs out…I feel that the Luddites will have their day, as the ebook goes the way of the dodo!
